Running A Business Requires Setting Goals
In addition to managing your time, a successful home business (any business) requires goals:
You have the capacity to err and it is well that you do - BUT NOT TO FAIL. Failure is an illusion of those who dwell upon errors.
Realistic goals are imperative. When you have decided what you want to do, set the goals for some measurable performance.
I am going to have enough clients to cover $700 in expenses within 90 days.
I need X-$ to quit my job.
Write your goals down and read them every morning and evening. This affirmation process almost guides you to your goals without what feels like a lot of effort on your part. Imagine daily the feel of success. Picture in your mind how you see yourself in a year, five years, ten years. Visual imagery is a very powerful process enabling miracles.
Set goals for yourself which are measurable so you can check your progress. Make adjustments as needed and award success points. If results dont turn out as planned, a winning attitude makes you look ahead to the next opportunity. And remember, errors become mistakes only when you refuse to correct them, and are miraculous prizes to be treasured as invaluable lessons learned. Keeping that very thing in mind, you'll find that your approach to everything is done with absence of fear. The instant you become absent of fear is the same instant that propels you to whatever success you envision for yourself. People fail only when they quit - trying again means one has learned one way in which the goal cannot be achieved. A favorite line: we are all extraordinary, trying so very hard to be ordinary. Remember that!!! Be the extraordinary person you really are.
If you overreact to stress, home work may be a problem for you since the work environment and interaction with others (sometimes as crutches) helps you relieve stress. You are for practical purposes on your own and responsible for your destiny. Consider that very carefully.
Some of the pitfalls are obviously avoided if you are not entirely on your own, that is to say, you might consider working for a corporation that assumes most of the risk (and gets most of the return) and you are simply a home-based employee. The tradeoff for you is more security, less involvement in business organization, marketing - all the entrepreneurial things - but perhaps less income. . . still not a bad trade-off.
